Cool [Release] Homebrew Channel for Wii U

Update: HackMii Installer v1.2 with The Homebrew Channel v1.1.2 now available, see below

Another year, another console, another Hackmii Installer!

Despite all of the anti-reverse-engineering tricks we put*into our last installment of the HackMii Installer,*Nintendo managed to find the IOS exploit we used to install*The Homebrew Channel and fix it sometime within the last*two years. There never was a Wii system update for this, the fixed IOS versions can only be found on a Wii U.

They also blocked our old title ID.*Consequently, we have a new release with a new version of*The Homebrew Channel; this will install on both Wii*consoles, and inside the virtual Wii sandbox inside the Wii*U. *The currently used IOS*exploit is courtesy of tueidj.

Please note that this is not running in full Wii U mode;*running this on a Wii U will probably work just like on a*Wii. (See if you can find any differences, we can all try*to hack the Wii U together from inside Wii mode!)

Also, due to technical limitations of the virtual Wii mode,*BootMii will not work on a Wii U. If we are able to*resolve this, we will make a new release with*BootMii*support.

As usual, grab the new installer*here.

If you’re unsure what do to with the installer, see*this wiki page*for a general tutorial on how to setup homebrew on your Wii, and*this one at the brand new wiiubrew.org*for savegame exploits that still work on a Wii U.

As usual, grab the new installer*here: http://bootmii.org/download/?varnish=sucks

There are a lot of bugs in this version, I'm waiting for it to be updated soon.

All hail Team Twiizers as they are responsible for this great achievement!

Now i need to get Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the exploit.

This is getting out of control. Beautifully out of control like a squirrel on fire.

So does this mean we can install Wad manager and take it from there? I'm unsure about downloading this because that link takes you to a version that says it installs Bootmii but the blurb says different.

Yeah I was just worried that I might download the wrong link and end up with big problems. Cheers mate.
I'd just like to know if anything else runs on it like Wad manager or USB loaders etc before I go and ruin my Wii-U.

I'm unsure of this myself. I think most apps don't work at the minute because there using different code. I'd wait unill Homebrew apps get updated to work with this new version of HBC.

Will post here when apps get updated.

On Tortuga Cove they have A Wii\Wii-U USB Loader
But I'm not so sure it's for Wii-U because they would have made a big deal about it.
I think it's very silly of them to put Wii-U in the title because many will try it and possibly mess up their consoles.

An app called Riivolution has already been updated to work with this but it's still private, it hasn't been made public yet (probably undergoing testing etc. before public release).

those who don't know what that is here's the description:

Riivolution is an on-the-fly game patcher for use with retail discs. It allows users to place content on their SD or USB devices, which will be read by the game during regular play.
It can be used for custom textures, music, levels, memory patches, game translations, and more!

hmm I will wait until a final release. Being that it's not something I can use right now and I've bought most of the games currently out I can wait......Not worth risking harm to my console

So is this saying we can install BootMii on the Wii-U? None of it is very clear. Also I just received a Wii-U system update so I'm hoping it wasn't patching anything like this.

I think as soon as we can install games via Was Manager or USB Loaders then I'll install this but right now there's no point. Especially if they're going to keep knocking updated versions out every few hours or so.

Another thing I'm wondering is if Letterbomb works on the Wii-U because if it does I've gone and wasted money buying Smash Brothers. :-)
