Are you saying it's stuck on that screen and doesn't fully load?

Yeh it just stays at that screen and it just keeps spinning with the loading sign the only to turn off is holding the power button as it wont go any further than this?

Do you have another Mac around?

Enter Target Mode > Disk Utility and Repair Permissions?

Otherwise insert a Boot Disk (10.6 / 10.7) hold option-alt on the tone (or 'C') and boot. I recall there was a way to access Disk Utilities.

Try rebooting into safe mode. Hold the <shift> key while you start. When you are in safe mode try using the repair permissions.

My iMac had this same problem. What happened was my hard drive died and everything on it was lost. So it's possible you have the same problem, if you do then I hope you have a backup of your stuff

When Booting Hold the Alt/Option button and it will pop up with you HD then click on it with mouse or enter.
On PPC it takes a while to load.
If not then Boot into Safe Mode.
Hold down Shift while booting..

When i say while booting is after you press the power button.
